get the look: blue + white southampton stunner

When it comes to color combinations, it doesn’t get more classic, elegant or sophisticated (I could go on and on!) than blue and white.  If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of the hue, from the deepest, darkest navy right down to the palest powdery blue.  So, it’s fitting that I would fall in love with a Southampton shingle-style beach house designed by Jesse Carrier that is decorated head to toe in this timeless color combo.  I first read about the house, belonging to Vogue editor Cate Marron, when it was featured in the magazine a few years back, but the pictures just didn’t do this beauty justice.  The house definitely exudes sophistication, but it also has a laid back, casual vibe, thanks to plenty of blue and white fabrics, jute rugs and pieces of rattan furniture blended in for a fresh, crisp feel. With all this cold, rainy and snowy weather, this house has me dreaming of Spring…and thinking I need to add a little bit more blue and white to my own home!

Here are my picks for getting the look at home:

floor lamp / chair / mirror / ginger jars / clam shell / paisley pillow / ikat pillow / table

blue + white lamp /

It could just be the winter blues talking, but the first photo of the house surrounded by the lush green landscape is stunning. Love the botanicals in the sitting room, and that bed has me wondering what I can do to make mine look that inviting. Removing the technology clutter, water glasses, and magazine subscription cards littering the nightstands might be a good start 🙂

I really do love the blue and white combination, but I feel like I've committed my house to green and it's too late to turn to blue now. Is that weird?
Haha. For some reason I feel like I can't have both! 🙂

Not at all, Kate! Your home is already so beautiful and cozy, but pops of blue could only add to the charm factor! I happen to think green and blue look fabulous together!
