VASE ROUNDUP
We’re counting down the days until all the zinnias, dahlias and cosmos we planted a few weeks back are in full bloom and gracing every surface of the house this summer! When it comes to displaying them, I prefer to keep the vessel super simple to highlight the beauty of the flowers, usually opting for a simple glass vase, a wicker wrapped option or even a simple piece of white pottery. Last year, my little miss snipped zinnias, gomphrena, sweet mint and some basil and arranged them in silver julep cups – they were such a beautiful touch to countertops and end tables!
I’ve pared down my vases and hurricanes over the years to only those I love and use the most and that can be dressed up or down with table linens, flatware and candles throughout the rest of the year. I also don’t like to spend a lot of money on them; most, if not all of mine, come from consignment or thrift stores, and inexpensive glass hurricanes of all sizes from Hobby Lobby are great for inserts in larger vessels, like the white ridged vase below. They’re all stored beneath the built-in hutch in the dining area for easy access:
Glass and wicker wrapped vases and simple, textured white pots are what I reach for the most. The white ridged vase below is such a beautiful, dramatic focal point, but it’s super porous, so I always place a small, inexpensive glass vase inside to keep the water from seeping through and ruining your furniture. Here are a few other lovelies I’m partial to:
