LONG LIVE DAHLIA SEASON

The only upside to the close of summer is that my back-to-school blues are assuaged by lots and lots of dahlias! My friend Sarah started her own sustainable flower farm last February and I couldn’t wait to sign up for her fall subscription for all the dahlias, zinnias and cosmos my little heart could wish for. Every Saturday for five weeks, I pick up a new bunch of some of the most incredible blooms. Supporting small, local business has never looked so beautiful, don’t you think?

While all of the blooms I’ve gotten have been stunning, last week’s were exquisite; Cafe Au’Lait and Linda’s Baby dahlias, mixed with the most incredible speckled zinnia (Sarah tells me it’s from the LIttle Flower Girl mix from Floret Flower), cosmos and pink and purple zinnias. OBSESSED.

Vase / Similar bamboo flatware / Similar water hyacinth placemats / Similar striped tablecloth

These went out on the table as soon as I got them home and since then, they’ve been moving around the house as much as I do, I love them so much! The pale peachy, coral blooms look so beautiful in the rattan vase and feel so much like summer, despite the fact that we’re halfway through September! I do wish dahlias had a longer vase life time; I saw online that you can submerge them in a warm water bath as soon as the petals begin to droop to extend their life a few more days and will definitely have to try that the next time!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful week and that these blooms brightened your day as much as they have mine!
