INSPIRED: THOMAS O’BRIEN’S INCREDIBLE GARDENS IN BELLPORT

As we finish cleaning up our garden beds and prepping the yard for the summer season, I’m constantly soaking up all the garden and landscape inspiration. At the top of my list of gardens and yards to ogle is the incredible Bellport property of designer Thomas O’Brien, whose home was featured in Frederic Magazine last fall and has since been a constant source of inspiration for me that I wanted to share it here on the blog, as well!

The property boasts a series of outdoor garden rooms, including a flower-filled portico garden, a kitchen garden filled to the brim with herbs and lined by a boxwood hedge, a topiary garden, an incredible garden house, a sunken garden surrounded by a low stone wall, not to mention an incredible variety of perennials, ground covers, trees, wildflowers, roses and vines that feels romantic and rustic, but soft and structured, as well. Every detail beautifully compliments the shingle-style house (I love how O’Brien painting the fencing navy blue to match the shutters on the house!) It really has a secret garden/English cottage vibe and is so calming and serene; I have this issue of the magazine and the pages are very well worn from flipping through so often! Here are a few images that make constantly have me swooning:
