designer love: kelly mcguill home

I’m so overwhelmed with making my way through my Christmas to-do list that I thought I’d take a break from all the holiday stuff and post some gorgeous, non-Christmas eye candy, instead!  I’ve been a huge fan of Boston-based interior designer and stylist Kelly McGuill for some time now; I love her simple, classic aesthetic and her impeccable attention to detail and she also happens to be one of the sweetest people in blogland, so I was especially thrilled to see she’s updated her website with some recent projects!  Kelly is the best at the whole “less is more” decorating philosophy, which I’m sure all of us can relate to coveting (especially if you have kiddos!) She effortlessly mixes traditional with modern touches, lots of texture and gorgeous lighting for a crisp, tailored and lived-in look.  She’s in the process of remodeling her own kitchen, which I’m DYING to see, but in the meantime, wet your whistle on a few equally stunning projects she’s completed recently:

Leather, linen, stripes, hints of brass and that amazing view.  What else does one need?

Framed nautical charts and touches of blue and white are two of my favorite things, but the glass and brass bookshelves steal the show in the living room:

Gorgeous:

There’s so much to love about this kitchen and breakfast area, starting with the blue subway tile backsplash, those Hicks pendant lights (forever a classic) and a brass chandelier.  The open shelving is an unexpected, lovely way to display glasses and serveware:

I’m OBSESSED with this dining room.  The texture, the antique brass chandelier, the gorgeous buffet and the pop of black from the lamp shades.  It doesn’t get any better than this:

The living room in Kelly’s own home has always been one of my favorites; the neutral color palette, pops of black and antique touches are so fresh and crisp:

The lovely plate wall and drum chandelier in her dining room has been replaced with a set of antique mirrors and double hanging lanterns.  The mix is divine:

A chic work space in the master bedroom:

Clean lines and crisp white in this master bathroom had me swooning when Kelly first posted sneak peeks of this space on her blog.  The closet beyond is perfection, too:

Framed botanicals, fresh greenery, a little cowhide and texture from baskets create a simple, stunning vignette:

The eating area in Kelly’s former kitchen.  I don’t know how you can improve upon perfection (Those chairs!  The butler’s pantry beyond!) but I’m sure her new one is even more amazing:

Here are a few picks for getting a similar look:

Love these oversize framed vintage number art pieces by Ballard Designs!  A great way to make a bold impact without breaking the bank:

Extra large baskets are a must.  Love this one from Pottery Barn (but I find them all the time at HomeGoods, too!)

Gorgeous blue and white floral pillows:

Hicks pendant lights are timeless:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and make some headway on your holiday shopping!
