christmas table setting

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying these marvelously lazy days in between then and New Year’s lounging in pj’s, in blissful unawareness of what day or date it is (with a cocktail somewhere in there, as well!)  That’s exactly how we are spending ours and, after a ridiculously chaotic Christmas season, it is EXACTLY what the doctor ordered!

Despite all the crazy this holiday season, I still was very excited to set my dinner table for the big day and this year decided to go super simple. This year’s table is brought to you by my bestie, who texted me a few weeks back saying, “Clean out your trunk and get over here!”  Turns out, her neighbor was chopping some green giant arbivitae and agreed to let her have first dibs to the branches before hauling them away.  When I arrived, the pile in her driveway was as wide as her Armada and I can just imagine what neighbors must have thought to have seen two grown women dancing around a huge pile of clippings, making grandiose plans of making thirty foot garlands for all over the house, haha!

Okay, so the garlands never happened (they are soooo much more time consuming than either one of us thought), but I thought setting a few branches down my farm table and sticking my stockpile of brass candlesticks in between would make a simple but dramatic impact and it certainly did!!  I’m still in shock that neither one of the kids knocked one over, setting the gardland (or tree) on fire, but they ended up loving it as much as I did!

I used my Artesia rattan chargers and my go-to French wine glasses, simple white linen napkins and off white taper candles. The mismatched candlestick holders are thrift store finds, all of which I found the week before Christmas and which cost me less than ten dollars for the bunch.  It doesn’t get much easier or simpler than that!  I loved the candlelight so much, I think we will be keeping a few out for dinners from here on out!

Hope you’re all enjoying the holiday break!
