a great before and after

I love Pinterest- not only for the bevy of inspiration you can find for nearly EVERYTHING, but also because it leads to design blogs to pore over.  Such was the case when I stumbled upon Ashley of Smitten Design.  I love a good before and after and the nursery she designed for her adorable baby boy is one of the best I’ve seen in a long while-my jaw hit the floor as I scrolled through her pictures.  See for yourself:

Here is the room before, which was previously used as a catch-all:

And here is the amazing after-the walls were covered with 1×8 inch plywood boards and painted a crisp white, navy blue gingham curtains add a pop of color and lots of interest, and charming details make the room feel fresh and masculine, perfect for a baby boy to grow into:

Down came the ceiling fan which was replaced by this gorgeous leather bird’s nest chandelier from Serena and Lily.  And talk about a push present-a portrait of the couple’s dog, Buster, takes pride of place above the crib:
