oceanfront perfection

Having spent the last few weeks in oceanfront homes, I’ve got beach houses on the brain – specifically, this waterfront Pacific Palisades beauty, a complete renovation by architect Tim Barber.  The New England-style home was featured in an issue of Renovation Style a few years back and I’ve been in love with it ever since – detailed moldings, vaulted, planked and coffered ceilings, built-in bookcases, blue ceilings (divine!), comfy furniture and antique pieces create an elegant, not overly kitschy, beach house vibe:

LOVE me a painted ceiling and this living room is a great example of why…pale blue-painted planks draw the eye up and make the space feel open and airy (not to mention the beautiful pop of color!):

Built-in bookcases and fabulous coffered ceiling are an elegant touch to an otherwise casual family room space, where the real star of the show is that AMAZING blue linen sofa!

Soapstone countertops, simple, Shaker-style cabinets and a built-in, floor-to-ceiling hutch are KILLING IT in the open kitchen.  The subtle nautical touch from the pendant lights isn’t too shabby, either:

Beautiful, open entryway:

The master bedroom is a little more formal than I like, but I love the color palette and that gorgeous tufted sofa:

Light and bright in the master bath – gorgeous:

Pergola perfection in the backyard, which, you can’t see here, but overlooks the Pacific:

Here are my picks for creating a similar look at home:

sofa / rug / coffee table / sconce / Samarkand pillow / abaca pillow / mirror / pierced ginger jars

Happy Hump Day!
