my thanksgiving table
Despite the fact that I’ve been chomping at the bit to get my Christmas decor out from storage since pretty much the day after Halloween, I can’t wait to have everyone together for Thanksgiving! Any time we can get family and friends around our table is pretty much my favorite thing in the whole wide world. And the only thing I love just as much this time of year is setting a beautiful table for the big day!
I did a little run through this morning to make sure everything would be perfect for tomorrow (praying those peonies can keep it together until tomorrow) and I love how it’s turning out. Even more so because Lydia has really taken a liking to helping “decorate the table”, which makes my heart soar, knowing that some day she will take as much pride in doing the same for her family! I’m looking forward to her help on Thanksgiving morning.
Whenever we have a big meal, I like to put the food on simple white platters on the kitchen counters so we’re not crowding the table or making everyone pass heavy plates of food around the table. PLUS…it really lets me go crazy with the table setting and let’s be honest, that’s one of the most important parts of the day, right?!
If you guys caught yesterday’s post, you know I really wanted a dark and moody color palette for the table this year, but the best I could do at Trader Joe’s was hydrangea, dark pink peonies and some green and dark pink vase fillers. Not too bad for about twenty bucks’ worth of grocery store blooms, I’d say! In my favorite wicker wrapped hurricane, they look bright and festive and are such a pretty contrast against the indigo linen table runner I bought at Crate and Barrel years ago.
Bamboo flatware is a must (this set is similar to mine), as are my favorite French wine glasses, lots of texture (hello, water hyacinth placemats) and indigo napkins.
How are you all setting your table this year?
