my simple summer mantle

Of all the things I change up in my house on what seems like a daily basis, the one thing that doesn’t really see too much action is my mantle .  The mirror we hung above it is so enormous, it makes enough of a statement without having to add too much else, and surprisingly, my aversion to clutter is actually greater than my obsession with accessorizing that part of the living room.  As the seasons change, though, I am always adding fresh greenery or flowers.  This summer, it’s a handful of fatsia (or Japanese aralia) from the yard – the leaves add such a beautiful pop of emerald and they last forever!) and a small piece of coral and a sea fan are a nod to the beach (and our vacation that just ended).  The reclaimed wood candlesticks get used pretty often, so I left them up there.  Simple, fresh and pretty for the summer months:

Your mantle is very pretty, and I love your mirror. I don't usually do anything different for the summer but you have me feeling inspired now to give a go.

Thanks, Stacey! That mirror really grounds the whole room. I love it, too! 🙂

What is the paint color on your walls?

Haley – it's an ICI paint (Glidden), Newcastle Gray, mixed at 50% strength. Thanks for reading!
