MY FAVORITE HOSTESS/TEACHER/JUST BECAUSE GIFT
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are off to a great start this first official week of the Christmas season! This week officially marks the start of many get-togethers, dinners and cocktail parties, which means hostess gifts will be needed, as well, so I am hopping on here to re-share one of my favorite and easiest go-to gift ideas! Aside from bringing a bottle of wine, I love to repot an inexpensive orchid from the grocery store. You can make it look so much more high-end by replacing the dyed stakes with bamboo and then ditching the mini hair clips and tying the stems with raffia, instead! I just made a few of these for my little’s teachers for Thanksgiving and thought it was worth sharing again:
I posted this a few years back but thought it was worth sharing again because of how simple it is to make a store-bought orchid look so much more special. I love to do these for teacher’s gifts at Christmas and stick a gift card in between the stems. It’s also great for neighbors or as a thank you gift!
For this one, I found an inexpensive terra cotta pot, a bag of raffia, bamboo stakes, a bag of moss and two orchids from Trader Joe’s.
I removed the orchids from their pots, placed them in the terra cotta pot, then carefully removed the mini hair clips and dyed stakes, replacing them with the bamboo. Just place them right into the same holes you just removed the dyed stakes from. Cut a piece of raffia to gently tie the stem to the bamboo stake in the same spot the mini clip was. Then cover the base with moss, and that’s it! Couldn’t be more easy and it looks much more high-end, doesn’t it?
What are some of your favorite hostess/teacher/just because gift ideas?
