luxe for less: equestrian chic

Last week, in search of some fun accessories for a client, I stopped by one of my favorite local antique shops, and, as I turned the corner, I ran smack-dab into this beauty:

I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since! There’s something so haunting and at the same time, breathtaking, about it.  A shot of one of Ricky Lauren’s beautiful mustangs, it’s definitely a statement piece, both for the image itself and the scale (it’s 5 feet wide by 4 feet tall).  Even though the owner of the shop said she’d cut me a deal, $1600 is a bit out of my price range, but you can still create rustic, equestrian-inspired style without killing your budget.

Etsy is full of amazing photos of horses that could easily be blown up to super-sized proportions, just like my find.  Here’s how I would decorate the rest of a living room around one of these beautiful prints:

Baxter leather club chair

Iron and rope mirror

Horse photo

Knock off brickmaker’s table

Liquor decanter

Olivia mirrored side table

Iron chandelier

Linen grommet panels

Bookends

Firewood basket

Wool throw
