INSPIRED DESIGN: MCGRATH 2
I have always appreciated and gravitated toward a classic, tailored approach to design – muted color palettes, lots of texture, antique pieces mixed in with more modern art and accessories and subtle hits of pattern that blend together for an effortlessly chic feel. One of the design teams that embodies this very approach is New York City-based mother and daughter design duo, McGrath II. I’ve followed them for years, way back to when they were just starting their blog many years ago, and have found myself lately turning more and more to their design portfolio and Instagram feed for inspiration. One of their recently completed projects, a new home on an apple orchard in New Canaan, Connecticut, that was constructed to seem as though it had been there forever, is breathtaking inside and out. A tone-on-tone color palette, extraordinary architectural details (the kitchenette built-ins!), painted wood floors, tons of natural light and beautiful textiles are just a few of the details that give this home a casual elegance. I couldn’t think of a better way to kickstart a new week than to share some incredible architectural and interior design eye candy:

Happy Monday!
