fab find friday: bamboo desk
Estate sales can be hit or miss-sometimes you find a treasure trove of goodies while other times, you just end up sorting through piles and piles of junk. I’ve not had much luck at the last three estate sales I attended, but then one day, on a whim, I stopped at one down the street from our house and, low and behold, found this vintage Thomasville faux bamboo desk for $15:
I snatched it up before another lady could grab it, but, sadly, I wasn’t fast enough to nab the matching mirror, too. I did a little research and found that Thomasville made an entire bedroom set of this back in the 70’s. Despite its lackluster yellow paint, the desk in pretty good shape…it just needs a little TLC in the form of a good sanding, a few coats of new paint and maybe a little glazing. I love the antique brass hardware and bamboo detailing around the drawers:
I plan on selling this, but in the meantime, it will replace the huge cardboard box that is currently supporting our computer in the office. Stay tuned for “after” pics and have a great weekend!

Total score. I get so excited about finding something that cool and Thomasville made some great stuff back in the 70's. The hardware is killer. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Sherry! I had to trample a few people to get to it, but I'm so glad I ended up bringing it home with me. The hardware is my favorite part. Have a great weekend!
this is a great find! can't wait to see what color you paint it.
no way NO WAY! What a great find ! Wish I needed a desk — I'd buy it from you.
Thanks, Mary Ann! It's such a great little desk. 🙂
