diy: tissue pom poms
This weekend, I hosted an intimate baby shower/luncheon for a good friend of mine who is expecting her first child this December. To keep things light and airy, I tried my hand at making a bunch of tissue paper pom poms and not only did they turn out fabulous, but I was surprised at how easy they were to make! Try making these easy and inexpensive decorations for your next party and amaze your friends with your Martha Stewart skills!
I bought a bunch of these 9-pack tissue paper in different colors…
…and laid each pack out flat:
Next, I folded one inch sections acordian-style:
…then secured the middle with a twist-tie and snipped the edges:
Next, pull apart each piece of paper separately, being careful not to tear it, until each piece is standing up, to form your pom pom:
They make pretty big pom poms, so hanging them on my chandelier was out of the question. Instead, I hung them from mirrors, my china hutch and even set some randomly around the house. A little fluffing keeps them looking good:
