If I had a dollar for every time a client or friend showed me a picture of an all-white space and said, “This is what I want!”, I could move to a little villa in Spain!  Well, maybe not exactly, but you know what I mean.  The thing about all-white spaces is that, when you have white walls, white floors, white cabinets, white furniture, it reads FLAT and BORING, instead of light and airy.  You need texture – and lots of it – along with art and accessories to add interest and warmth, but also to create a layered, cohesive look.  This home is a great example of how I think all-white can look amazing – leather chairs, warm wood furniture, stacks of books, sheepskin throws, vintage art in gilt frames, all mixed with white walls and trim and white linen furnishings.  PERFECTION.  It definitely helps to have a lot of natural light because it bounces off those white walls and really highlights this designer and antique shop owner’s treasures:

Everything about this space is so warm and cozy; I love the layered art and vintage clock leaning on the fireplace:

Love the shape of this coffee table.  I would have gone with a handspun jute rug here, but it’s still a pretty little spot to perch:

The dining and living rooms are open to one another and I absolutely love how the owner made it all seem much more cohesive by having the dining room double as a library, with big stacks of her favorite tomes:

Vintage art adds color and interest above a bookshelf, but the light bouncing off that gilt mirror makes it a beautiful focal point:

Another light and bright shot of the living/dining room:

A beautiful, all-white bath is calm and serene:

This California abode is currently on the market for just under a cool $3 million.  See the listing and additional photos here.  Have a great weekend!
