california casual meets east coast chic

If you love a good interior design before and after, have I got a treat for you today!  This 1960’s ranch home underwent a total architectural and design overhaul and the result is light and bright with beautiful details like paneled walls and ceilings, built-ins, linen slipcovered pieces and a mix of traditional and modern furniture.  It’s California casual with a little East Coast influence and it’s so, so good!  The kitchen and adjoining eating area totally sold me, but the entire home has such a chic, sophisticated feel while at the same time beckoning you to relax and put your feet up, a true testament to a welcome home:

Neutral furnishings, built-ins flanking the fireplace and just the right touch of animal print are modern and fresh in the living room:

Okay, this kitchen…..there is so much goodness going on here, I don’t know where to start.  The oversize nautical pendant lights, the fabulous steel vent hood, the marble slab backsplash, double thick countertops and extra thick moldings…divine.  Just divine.

Equally as gorgeous is this pass-through from the kithen into the eating area; floor-to-ceiling built-in cabinetry, glassfronts and beautiful crown molding save space, add tons of storage and create a light, bright feel in the breakfast area:

Banquette seating, an old farmhouse table and Windsor chairs…yes, yes and yes!

A great detail shot of the moldings and coffered ceiling in the kitchen; love the antique Swedish hutch and the pop of color from the ginger jars above:

With paneled walls, a coffered ceiling and a wall of French doors, the master bedroom is elegant and sophisticated.  An upholstered headboard and chaise bring a soft, cozy and casual element to the space-something every master bedroom should have:

More built-ins in the dining room:

Love the gallery wall, settee and cowhide rug in the hallway:

Here are my picks for getting the look:

fiddle leaf fig / basket / table / pendant lights / ginger jars / pillow / Windsor chair

I am head over heels in love with this California Casual home that has collided with an East Coast sensibility!!! Thank you for sharing this look and your picks to achieve a similar vibe!
By the way, I am most happy to see that you are back with more frequent postings… I hope that is an indication that you are settling into the motherhood role with more ease and routine with the absolutely charming, sweet Lydia! I would love to say it gets easier as they growup, but surffice it to say that with growth it gets different…

Thank you, Miriam! That living room is simply perfect! Lynn – I am definitely trying to get back to blogging full time; with a deployed hubby and a new baby, work and the blog have taken a backseat for a little while 🙂
