BLUE AND WHITE AND CRANBERRY FOR CHRISTMAS

We’re off to a great start this Christmas season, with a host of parties, get togethers and dinners already in the works, one of which happens to be a small gathering at my house this weekend while my dad is in town. My most favorite part about entertaining around the holidays is – no surprise – setting the table!

Whenever I’m scheming a table for a special occasion, I always lay out my linens first with my hotel silverware and bamboo flatware to see whether I want to go more formal or casual. I love blue and white all year round, but especially at Christmas and especially when it’s accented with a punch of red, so this weekend, blue and white stripes, beaded dinner plates, bamboo flatware (similar here), water hyacinth placemats, chambray napkins and my beloved French wine glasses are the winner, winner to the coming chicken dinner. If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s a modified version of last year’s Christmas table; I’m nothing if not predictable when it comes to my tables and I happen to have become a creature of habit when it comes to setting a special table. This year, in lieu of a floral centerpiece, I’m using my trio of myrtle topiary, all dressed up with cranberry grosgrain ribbon and a handful of actual cranberries in the pot for a punch of Christmas red!

How are you setting your table for the Christmas season?
