before and after: graywashed crib

A few weeks back, I posted this nursery design board for a special little client getting ready to make her debut in two months.  I just finished her crib and was so excited with how well it turned out, I wanted to share!  I promise to post pictures of it assembled once the nursery is complete, but for now, it’s got pride of place in my garage, in pieces, waiting to be delivered to its new home. 

Here is a before shot of the oak headboard, before I stripped the finish completely.  It’s heavy and got great lines – perfect for highlighting:

I used the most beautiful shade of dove gray, Pratt & Lambert’s Genteel Gray and then graywashed it with the nursery’s wall color, Pratt & Lambert’s Winter’s Gate, overtop. Finally, I drybrushed here and there to highlight the shape and curves with the same color as the graywash:

    Thanks, Tonia! I used Pratt & Lambert's Winter's Gate, mixed with glaze and water 🙂
