beautiful in bridgehampton
I’m a little behind in making my way through the last few month’s worth of design magazines (my stack is now twice as high as the basket they sit in!) so, last night I popped open a bottle of wine and started flipping through a couple and right away this renovated 19th century farmhouse in Bridgehampton, New York, stopped me dead in my tracks! I am completely smitten with every single detail – I love how they preserved the bones of the home but added a little flair with modern furnishings, lots of texture and a healthy dose of striped rugs! The tone-on-tone background looks like one of my all-time favorite neutral paint colors, Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, and it’s the perfect backdrop for pops of saturated color, sumptuous pattern (love the ikat pillows!), art and antiques:
Crisp white for the exterior:
Walls and trim painted the same greige are a gorgeous backdrop for linen slipcovered sofas, a weathered oak mantel and a gorgeous 18th century chair covered in purple velvet are so cozy and elegant:
This is my favorite room in the house. I love the layout, the French doors leading straight to the backyard, the ample seating, that shag rug – an eclectic mix that works so well in creating such an inviting space:
Love the lines of the four poster bed in the master mixed with the Gustavian desk and layered rugs in the master. Such a great example of how antique pieces can compliment an otherwise modern space:
A lovely view and balcony off the master. Lazy Sunday mornings in bed must be one of these homeowner’s favorite pasttimes because it surely would be mine!
All the natural light in the bedrooms is just gorgeous, isn’t it?
The screened-in porch would definitely be used year-round down here in NC; the slate floor, beadboard ceiling, hanging lantern and fireplace are such a beautiful extension of the indoors:
I know we’re well beyond swimming weather, but I can’t resist a beautiful pool shot and this one is just perfect:
