bachelor pad

When a friend’s younger brother closed recently on the purchase of his very first home, he turned to me for help decorating it and I jumped at the chance to design an amazing bachelor pad for him! To start, we’re working on the living room, which is open to the kitchen- the perfect setup for a guy in his late 20’s who loves to entertain.  It was such a breeze to work with him – from the start, he knew he wanted a similar feel to designer Jimmy Stanton’s living room, so we used that as a jumping-off point:

His parents offered to buy a new sofa as a housewarming present and, after much debate, this gorgeous leather chesterfield sofa became the basis for which the design for the rest of the space was based.  Carpet is getting replaced by beautiful handscraped, wide-plank floors with an espresso finish and walls are getting new life with charcoal gray paint. We’re going for a masculine, moody feel with industrial touches, reclaimed wood accents and warmth and texture from a seagrass rug, bamboo Roman blinds, linen curtains and antique brass sconces.  Inexpensive reproduction subway roll signs add interest and patchwork pillows and a tripod lamp keep the vibe fun and fresh.  Here is our plan, so far:

Up next is the dining room plan and progress pictures of the living room…hope you’re off to a great start this Monday!

Love you plan! The first pic is gorgeous! We're in the process of planning out an office space for my husband and this has given me some ideas!

Also, I picked up that herringbone blanket from Target this weekened for our bedroom. I love it!
