sneak peek: fit for a princess

Over the last few weeks, we’ve made some major headway on this nursery for a baby girl who will be making her debut in a few weeks and I have to say, I’m super excited with how well everything is coming together!  This is, by far, the tightest budget with which I’ve ever had to work, so we stuck to the basics  like refinishing the crib, changing table and dresser myself, hanging tissue paper pom poms that I made for the shower and then splurging on a fabulous crystal chandelier to really add some drama and bring everything together! We still have some tweaking to do, some art to hang and a gallery wall to fill with pictures, but here are a few sneak peeks of the progress we’ve made so far (I apologize, in advance, for the dark pictures…it was dark and rainy the day I took these!):

The graywashed crib is assembled and dressed:

Tissue paper pom poms add drama and height above a rocking chair so baby girl can have something to look at while feeding:

A crystal chandelier bounces light and adds just the right amount of sparkle:

What was once a yellowed, oak dresser and changing table have now found new life with a coat of chalky white paint and vintage glass knobs:

I cut an 8-foot, 1 1/2 inch dowel rod to use as a curtain rod and then painted and graywashed it the same shade as the crib so white curtain panels from Ikea really pop.  It’s such an inexpensive (the rod cost less than $10) alternative to much pricier curtain hardware:

I promise to post more pictures once we are completely done.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week-happy hump day!
