shingle style in malibu
I cannot wait for the Fall release of interior designer and Million Dollar Decorator’s star Jeffrey Alan Marks’ first book, The Meaning of Home – if the photo on the cover is any sign of the goodness that’s inside, we fans are in for a real treat! Marks recently revamped his portfolio on his website and there’s a little sneakity peek of the amazing, shingle-style Malibu home featured on the front of the book and it’s divine! Light, bright and airy, with the perfect mix of antique furnishings and modern touches, the house is a perfect blend of California cool and East Coast chic:
Cedar shakes, a glossy black front door and crisp white trim are classic – love the pavers in the drive and all the gorgeous greenery (not to mention the fab set of wheels!):
Someday, I hope to have an entryway that is large enough for an antique round table like this – howfabulous are those walnut and white painted stairs?
Love the contrast throughout the entire house…bright white walls are a beautiful background for darker wood pieces and blend seamlessly with the lush greenery outside:
Planked, vaulted ceilings make such a dramatic statement in this marble kitchen with open shelving. My favorite part of the whole house:
An antique table and chairs are such a beautiful contrast in the all-white kitchen:
Another shot of those gorgeous ceilings – and a neutral furnished living area:
A beautiful house like this wouldn’t be complete without equally fabulous outdoor living areas:
This porch is from another project of Marks’, but I loved it so much, I had to include it here – slate flooring, potted boxwoods, hanging lanterns and an extra long table with benches (perfect for squeezing everyone together)…AMAZING!!!
