When it comes to art, I tend to gravitate toward pieces that are subtle (and sometimes, not so subtle) reminders of the sea.  The hubby spent his first four years in the Marine Corps in Hawaii and our first house was five minutes from the beach here in the North Carolina, so I like to think that artwork with an ocean feel are a great reflection of our history.  So, naturally, when I stumbled upon artist Kiele Gregoire’s contemporary sea-inspired oil and watercolor paintings, I instantly fell in love.  Her use of bold color is what draws me most to these beautiful paintings, but I also love that it’s not a not so obvious nod to the sea.  I was kind of bummed to only be able to find small original paintings available here (they would look amazing on a larger scale and add such a great pop of color to an otherwise neutral space!) but Kiele also has an Etsy shop where she sells much larger prints of originals.  Win – win!  Here are a few of my favorites:

What are some of your favorite sea-inspired pieces of art?
