insta good: steven gambrel

If you guys have been reading here for a while, you know I have a slight obsession with the work of interior designer Steven Gambrel.  So, it was only natural that I would find him on Instagram and proceed to drool over progress pics of his current projects and, best of all, detail shots of vignettes and spaces inside his Sag Harbor sea captain’s cottage!  Even sweeter is the fact that his adorable labradoodle, Sailor, makes an appearance in many of his pictures!  If you’re looking for some design inspiration on instagram, you absolutely need to check out his feed.  If you love tailored, masculine style, peppered with healthy doses of the palest, prettiest shades of blue and vintage nautical details, you will absolutely love it!  Each and every post is stunning in its simplicity, which, for me, is so refreshing and part of why I fell in love with his work in the first place!

I’m in love with this view; the grounds and exterior of his home is as beautiful as the inside:

One of many simple, but stunning vignettes:

A single topiary is the perfect pairing with an oversize clam shell; boxwoods in zinc containers are a chic, timeless touch:

I’ve never seen this view of the kitchen before, it’s always facing th other way; how amazing are the floor-to-ceiling subway tile and blue doors?!

Sailor looks right at home among a wine cask lamp, wall-mounted staghorn ferns and an elegant topiary on the porch:

The taupe and ivory color palette in this recently finished Hamptons library is gorgeous, as is that capiz shell pendant light:

Blue and white has never looked so good…..

White linen curtain panels and bamboo Roman blinds are my absolute favorite pairing for windows and this is why:

A huge, demijohn lamp in the guest house….swoon.  Love the contrast with the darker trim and white walls:

Walkway to the guest house:

Gambrel’s love for his signatura pale blue is evident throughout his entire home, including on the doors to the stone barn:

Love the rope detailing on these pendant lights in a project in Nantucket:

Klismos-style chairs, a banded tablecloth and silver plate chargers are so simple but so, so elegant at this table setting:

I am in love with pale blue! When can I move in ????. Thanks for posting. Redecorating the basement TV room. I think I see a new blue sofa in our future. And maybe one of those lamps.

Teri – just the idea of a pale blue sofa makes me weak in the knees!! And you can't ever go wrong with a demijohn lamp! 🙂
