INSPIRED: ENCLOSED SUNROOMS + MY TENTATIVE PLANS FOR OURS

A few years back, we toyed with the idea of enclosing the screened porch right off of our living room for a little more space for us and the kiddos. I love a screened porch but we would just do so much better with the extra living space year round. I wanted floor-to-ceiling windows on all three sides of the room, as it faces our pool and I did not want to limit any light coming into our living room, however, contractor after contractor kept telling us that windows that I wanted were against code (apparently, you must have electrical outlets every three feet, which makes ZERO sense to me), so we put the idea on the back burner. Now, here we are contemplating enclosing it once again, this time with thoughts to vault the ceiling and add skylights and I’ve been hitting Pinterest pretty hard for inspiration. Here are a few enclosed sunrooms that are providing so many great ideas for if we do go forward with this (and scroll down to the bottom for my super tentative plans for what I would do!):

While floor-to-ceiling windows are at the top of my list of wants for this space, I also would love to use beadboard for any wall space not eaten up by windows, the same slate tile floor as in our master and guest baths, since traffic from the pool will go through this room first and then bamboo Roman blinds, a bunch of topiary, baskets for storage and a pair of these beautiful, nautical-inspired flushmounts. As for furniture, I’m still not sure what all I would put in here, more than likely arm chairs and a settee in place of a sofa, but I definitely want a game table-ideally, an old gate-leg beauty that we can easily pull chairs up to. Here is what I am thinking, so far:

Topiary / Seagrass rug / Montauk slate tile / Flush mount light / Bamboo blinds / Basket / Wicker pedestal and urn / Similar gate leg table / Wall lantern sconce

Stay tuned to see if we actually go through with it!

Happy Monday!

The Ratan is such a hard but soft boho vibe, The duality of it looks great in a sunlit white sunroom.
