oversized artwork
Vaulted ceilings are a great way to make a room feel bigger, but they can be a real pain in the neck when trying to figure out what kind of art to hang. Right now I’m dedorating a living room with a twenty-foot vaulted ceiling and it’s been a challenge deciding on artwork. The right piece can completely transform the space, but with such a large expanse of wall, we’re leaning heavily toward a large-scale piece that will make a dramatic focal point in the room. In this case, bigger truly is better! Here are some of my favorite examples:

Steven Gambrel

Nick Olsen via House Beautiful
Ashley Putnam, via The Semi-Designed Life

It would be pretty easy to have a map blown up and mounted similar to these antique reproductions by Restoration Hardware:

Great images. That Thom Filicia room is stunning — I would never think to use a round rug like that, but it looks great.
It's one of my favorites…I love the Alex Weinstein painting…it makes the whole room! 🙂
