black and white kitchens

There’s something about black and white kitchens that make me weak in the knees.  Whether it’s white cabinets with black countertops, or black cabinets with white Carrera marble, the look is clean and classic.  Dark walnut hardwood or Brazilian Black slate floors add a beautiful contrast and beadboard, tile and fabulous drawer pulls complete the look without needing too much else.  I love it so much, in fact, I put absolute black granite, white, glassfront shaker style cabinets and gleaming white subway tile in my own kitchen when we built a year ago and I LOVE it! Here are some of my favorite inspirational images that helped guide me when I was building my house:

Thank you for this post. We are in the process of building & this is my look. White cabs, subway tile, black granite tops, glass fronts on the few overhead cabinets on one wall, wood fan hood, farmhouse fireclay sink. I have been fretting that maybe the black granite was trendy instead of classic, but after seeing your photos I think I am on the right track!
