corner built-ins

I can’t believe I’m showing you this, but I might as well keep it real…this is the what the TV “situation” has been in our living room since we moved in a year ago:

Surround sound speakers, tons of cords and a large TV, all sitting on an old coffee table that I used to practice painting techniques.  Pretty sad.  Thankfully, when you walk from the foyer into the living room, the TV is on the left side, adjacent to the entrance so no one sees it until they turn around.  This corner has been the bane of my existence for the last twelve months, but it’s finally being rectified and not a moment too soon, if you ask me!

We’re putting two 18-inch side panels on each side with shelves 15 inches apart, one shelf over the TV and cabinets underneath.  It’s coming along so nicely!  This is where we’re at right now-one coat of primer:

I’ll be painting this weekend and will hopefully have finished pics to show you next week!  Have a great weekend!

Hey Kelly – did you install this yourself? I would LOVE to do something similar in my living room but I don't know who to talk to about it 🙂

Lisa-I responded to the comment you left on another post; unfortunately, I do not have plans as we had help building these. Wish I could help!

Looking good, can't wait to see the finished project. Looking to do something very similar. What size TV do you have on these shelves?

Hi, Adrian! We used plain old white pine from Lowe's and sheets of primed beadboard! Good luck!!

Hi, Kelly. Great corner unit. Any final pics of the work? I can't seem to find anything else when doing a search. Thanks…

hello Kelly, I love this corner built I am trying to recreate it in my home. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. I noticed on the finishing pictures of the stand the shelves on the sides compared to the middle ones are the same thickness, but in these picture they are thinner, was something added in front of them to make them the same size and how thick is it? also if you have anymore pictures of the build process you might have. thank you!

Christina – We used finishing pieces to give the illusion that the shelves were thicker. Each piece is 1 3/4 inches wide and 3/4 inch deep. You can see all the other posts by searching "corner built ins" in the search box to the right. Hope this helps!

Do you have the plans for this? Or can you give instructions?

Lara – I do not have plans for this, unfortunately! We had a finish carpenter do these for us!

Kelly can you tell me the size of the two walls that make up the corner (don’t need the height)? Thanks just trying to envision if this will fit in the space I have

Hi, Barbara! One wall is 60 inches wide and the other is 72. It was quite a challenge trying to get it to look centered but we did it! xx
