fit for a princess

In a few months, one of my dearest friends will be welcoming a little girl! I am thrilled for her and over the moon with excitement that she asked me to design her nursery from top to bottom!  This little one is going to be joining a big brother who is into superheros, soccer and all-things boy, boy, boy, so it was only fitting to design a super girly, chic resting spot fit for a princess.  We’re going with pale pink and soft gray with crisp white accents and graywashed furnture.  Here is what I’ve come up with:

I’m refinishing the set her son used-the crib will be painted dove gray and then whitewashed, similar to this one.  The dresser and changing table will be painted soft whit, then distressed and glazed and then finished with antique crystal knobs, similar to these.  The walls will be painted the most beautiful shade of pale, soft gray, and a crystal chandelier and Venetian-style mirror will add a dose of sparkle and glamour.  Tissue paper pom poms in different shades of gray, pink and white are an easy, inexpensive way to add texture and interest, as well as something for baby girl to look at while laying in her crib or being rocked to sleep.  The gallery wall of framed book pages from uber-talented designer Amy Meier, inspired a gallery wall of our own.  White grommet curtains from Ikea and pink and white chevron fabric (which will be draped above the crib) add a touch of softness.  I can’t wait to show you progress pics, so stay tuned!

Happy Monday!
