CURRENT ANTIQUE/THRIFT STORE FINDS + TIPS WHEN SHOPPING

There’s nothing that perks up my day more than a super quick, impromptu stop into one of my favorite consignment/thrift/antique stores during the week. Even better when I score something beautiful! Lately, there’s been such a treasure trove of goodies that I thought I’d share a little roundup of some of the best pieces that caught my eye on my last antiquing jaunt. Scroll all the way to the end of the post for a few tips I live by when hitting my favorite shops, too!

I really went back and forth over whether or not I should have grabbed this set of vintage set of bamboo folding chairs; it’s never a bad idea to have extra seating on hand when friends and family are over and these are about as beautiful as it gets. The set of four was $125, which was such a steal that, once I had made up my mind and went back to get them, some other lucky duck had already snagged them. A great reminder that, when shopping antique or thrift stores, if you see something you love, BUY IT because chances are very good that they won’t be there when you go back!

A set of rattan chargers in the most beautiful shade of honey brown; these are so versatile and would be such a beautiful way to make elevate every meal easily:

Reproduction bread boards for $30 a piece! These were already beautiful as is, but a light coat of honey stain would go a long way to making these look even more vintage:

French soaps that are *almost* too pretty to actually use:

Copper cookware in every size imaginable:

This expandable bamboo rack would look amazing in a foyer or in a little boy’s room for baseball hats:

Lots of French baskets and a gorgeous painted bamboo mirror:

This French pine corner hutch was just breathtaking in person; I so wish I had a place for it!

I can’t ever resist a Barley Twist leg and this table was so beautiful and in such great shape:

This Belgian tiered plant stand was so much bigger than the picture portrays! Would look amazing on a covered or screen porch! I think it would be the perfect spot for a little potted herb garden:

A few tips that I try to always follow when shopping antique/consignment/thrift stores:

KEEP A LIST OF WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR It’s so easy to get distracted (or, in my case, fall into sensory overload) with all the goodies, but if you keep a running list of the items you actually need/want, it will make it feel less like searching for a needle in the haystack!

VISIT OFTEN. Consignment and antique shops turn over items so quickly, many getting new pieces in every few days, so it’s never a bad idea to stop in often to check out new inventory.

SHOP EARLY + DURING THE WEEK Weekends are usually a madhouse at my favorite jaunts, so if I’m going to stop by on a Saturday, I try to do so as soon as the shop opens so I’m not fighting crowds and have a little more time to look around. Week days are a great time to stop in, as it’s usually much less crowded with everyone at work or in school.

BRING CASH. Many vendors prefer cash over credit card, since they don’t have to pay the surcharge and many times you have a little more wiggle room to negotiate price if you’re willing to pay in cash.

ONLY BUY WHAT YOU TRULY LOVE When you find the perfect piece you’ll know it, so if I can give any advice, it would be not to buy something just because it’s cheap, especially if you don’t absolutely love it!

MAKE SURE YOU’RE GETTING A FAIR PRICE Do a quick search online to see what the same or similar items are going for to make sure you aren’t overpaying. This is also helpful when trying to negotiate price with sellers.
