black, white & red all over
Now that Thanksgiving is over, I have Christmas on the brain…shopping, decorating, baking goodies for friends and neighbors, getting cards out (on time this year!) and a laundry list of more items I’m sure I’m forgetting. I’d love to ditch it all and run off to a cozy little cottage like this Napa Valley beauty owned by Ken Fulk and Kurt Wooten. A simple color palette of black and white with subtle pops of red and lots of reclaimed wood and natural materials help this small space live large.
Bold red doors and asparagus ferns in galvanized metal pots are a bright and cheery welcome to this beautiful home:
A salvaged fireman’s rack finds new life as a coat rack. Every house needs a little animal print and a faux zebra ottoman does the trick in the entryway:
Vaulted, beamed ceilings add a light and airy feel, while slate floors give a rustic touch. And that ticking stripe couch….DIVINE!! (I have a slight obsession):
I love how almost everything in this cottage is recycled or reclaimed-kitchen cabinets are made from old fencing, barstools are old truck springs and countertops and shelving are galvanized metal:
A gorgeous, floor-to-ceiling dry-stacked stone fireplace is the focal point of the living room:
I want these Lab andirons SO bad:
I can’t get enough of sliding barn doors…
Stacked, vintage Louis Vuitton suitcases create a makeshift side table in the master. The pinstriped bedding adds a masculine touch:
Salvaged columns find new life as a four-poster bed in a guest room. Love the red ticking stripes:
Charcoal drawings add a touch of whimsy over an antique-style tub:
My favorite part? The barn that sits behind the cottage on the property:
Can you imagine the Thanksgiving dinners here (sans the bales of hay, of course)?
Here is how to get a simlar look:

Ahhh, I need those andirons. I love them so much… The rest of the cottage is ridiculously awesome as well — great job with the get this look.
I agree with black, white and red color combination. But the dogs in the fireplace are amazing. I love the idea.
