WORTH THE WAIT: THE WELL LOVED HOUSE BY ASHLEY WHITTAKER

There isn’t much I look forward to more come fall, save for the bevy of beautiful new coffee table and design books that debut this time of year. Ashley Whittaker’s The Well Loved House is the first of my pre-orders to arrive and it does not disappoint! For someone loves tone-on-tone neutrals and subtle patterns, Whittaker’s colorful, pattern-filled rooms were such a breath of fresh air! I finally got a chance to not only flip through page after page of her beautiful, timeless spaces, but also read it, as well (which almost NEVER happens at the same time, lol!) What I loved most about the book is the fact that the entire book lives up to the title; The Well Loved House is all about Whittaker’s dedication to creating homes that are truly lived in and well loved – spaces that welcome you at the end of a long day and that are truly meant for LIVING. For me, this means seagrass rugs that are worn on the corners from riding scooters in the house or droopy sofa cushions that have to be flipped over and fluffed regularly from family movie nights, reading books or sitting and folding laundry while binging a show after the littles have gone to bed.

While every home that is showcased in the book is beautifully designed, decorated and styled, a feeling of comfort and coziness still reigns supreme and that, for me, is the hallmark of a truly perfectly decorated home and it also makes this a new favorite design book! Here are a few favorite snaps from the book (which can be purchased here):
