mark d. sikes: it’s all in the details

I fell head over heels in love with designer Mark D. Sikes home the moment I saw it gracing the cover of House Beautiful last January.  This house has gotten some serious love online, thanks to the fabulous Heather Clawson who posted pics here and here from her personal tour and then again last week when it was featured in the November issue of Lonny.  Light, bright and airy,it’s easy to see why we can’t get enough of this amazing abode in the Hollywood Hills- it’s the perfect combination of East Coast chic and California cool. What I love most about this house is the fact that it isn’t overly styled to death-it’s got a lived-in look, layered with treasures collected from travels, fabulous art, books everywhere the eye can see, a pretty impressive magazine collection and perfectly styled vignettes galore!  When it comes to attention to detail, Sikes is king.  Here’s why:

Here are my picks for creating a similar look:

Capri chair / Catamaran rug / Garden stool / Coral / Seagrass baskets / Isabella daybed /

Boxwood topiary/ White beaded dinner platesHurricanes /
