julia contacessi’s beautiful abstracts + a giveaway! (closed)

I apologize for the silence on the blog last week; my momma was in town for eight whole days and so baby girl and I soaked up each and every minute with her!  To make up for the lack of posts lately, I thought we’d kick off the week with the fabulous abstract artwork by Julia Contacessi!!  You might remember I included one of her paintings in a roundup of my favorite sea-inspired artwork through Minted a few weeks ago;  I love her bold use of color and how almost all of her landscapes and abstracts remind me of the sea.  There isn’t a piece in her portfolio I wouldn’t LOVE to hang on my walls (her “Distant Island Pier” is currently a contender for some empty wall space in my master bathroom, actually!)  Here are a few favorites from her portfolio I’m loving lately:

Julia has graciously offered to give away one of her framed and matted art prints to one lucky reader here on the blog!  All you have to do is tell us which one is your favorite in the comment section below and don’t forget to leave your email address!  I will pick a winner this Friday, 7 August.  Here are the five beauties to pick from; good luck picking your favorite!

Divinity (9×9 art size)

Driven (9×9 art size)

House of Sapphire No. 1 (9×12 art size)

Sea Smoke (9×9 art size)

Undertow (9×12 art size)

To see more of Julia’s work, check out her portfolio here, her Instagram (@fineartcontacessi) and, if you’re in the market for an oversize abstract, don’t forget to check out her selection over at Minted, where you can order a piece up to 30×30!

These are lovely abstracts! I'm currently renovating a little cottage near the beach in CT and would love to have "Divinity" hanging in the house!

Wow, these are gorgeous! I love the glint of gold in Undertow, but I think ultimately I'd feel so inspired if I had Divinity to look at every day. Here's hoping!… Thanks! (And congrats to Julia on the beautiful work!)

  11. Teri Russell on August 3, 2015 at 4:10 pm

    Good morning, Kelly.

I Love "Divinity"! I live in Colorado, but spent my youth in North Carolina. I miss the ocean so much. Yes we have mountains, but water calls me.
Julia's abstract's are all lovely, so hard to pick a favorite . Keeping my fingers crossed.

  12. Lynn-de Williams on August 3, 2015 at 4:35 pm

So hard to pick just one…. but my favorite would have to be Sea Smoke. πŸ™‚

  13. Kathy on August 3, 2015 at 5:37 pm

Never have enjoyed abstract art until lately and these are wonderful. Colors are great. It was difficult to pick a favorite, but I think I would have to go with Sea Smoke.

Divinity is absolutely beautiful but House of Sapphire is so bold and compelling. House of Sapphire is my pick. Thank you for sharing!

  16. Esray on August 3, 2015 at 6:58 pm

Wow — how can a piece of art feel peaceful and bold at the same time? House of Sapphire No. 1 is stunning.

Undertow is a close second for me — we have an original abstract from an artist in Arizona that uses that splash of gold with his neutrals. These beautiful selections (in the contest and others) urged me to visit the artist's website. So pretty!

  17. Laurie on August 3, 2015 at 7:24 pm

    Divinity! Beautiful…

  18. Nicole on August 3, 2015 at 10:56 pm

  19. Linda on August 3, 2015 at 11:10 pm

Love Julia's art and have visited her website before. I love Driven because it makes me think of sunsets in wine country where I live. She's so lucky to possess and express her talent this way.

  20. Michele on August 4, 2015 at 12:47 am

I don't own a beach house but when I look at Divinity I imagine I'm looking out from my beach house window and see this glorious view. I breathe in the sea air and smile, grateful. This would be a treat to be able to gaze at it everday!

  21. Mary on August 4, 2015 at 1:20 am

This is tough. I love them all. But if I had to pick just one it would be Sea Smoke.

  22. Angie on August 4, 2015 at 1:44 am

  24. Kelley on August 4, 2015 at 2:04 am

All of Julia's pieces speak to you in different ways and take you to different places. They are all so breathtaking, but Undertow literally takes you to another dimension with its shimmer of gold. It's gorgeous, and ultimately, speaks to me the most. I would love to be inspired by its beauty every day in the entry way of my home!
