GET THE LOOK: INA’S EVERY DAY + ENTERTAINING STYLE

If there’s one person who has influenced my entertaining and design style (as far as kitchen and dining go), it’s Ina Garten. I picked many similar design elements for our kitchen when we built our house, from the black countertops and white glassfront cabinets, right down to the little details like the oversize Anchor Hocking jars and antique wood bread boards and I’m pretty sure I have her to thank for my never ending collection of oversize white platters!

Ina’s taste and style is the epitome of chic simplicity; simple white dinnerware, French wine glasses, Belgian linens, oversize hurricanes and baskets and wood boards are just a few classic staples she uses to beautifully elevate the every day. I’ve poured over her cookbooks and watched her show plenty of times just to find new details to implement in my own home, but I always come back to the same simple details when entertaining for friends and family, or just me and my littles. There are so many design, decorative and entertaining elements that Ina uses that can be implemented in any space, regardless of size (or lack thereof): antique bread boards can be leaned up against countertops when not being used for charcuterie; a grouping of oversize glass hurricanes make for the perfect centerpiece; simple, unadorned white dinnerware takes an every day table setting from basic to beautiful when paired with silver accents, water hyacinth placemats and soft, Belgian linen napkins. You’ll never see a fussy floral arrangement (she sticks with heaps of the same kind of bloom in a glass vases or simple white orchids) and texture and neutrals always reign supreme for a cozy but elegant feel.

Here are my picks for creating a similar feel and look at home:

Glass hurricanes / White dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and mugs / Antique bread board / French wooden spoons / Bamboo butcher block / French wine glass / French champagne glass / Buffalo check napkins / White cake stand / Oversize basket / Black candlestick holders / White pitcher / Large Anchor Hocking jar
