get the look: aspen extreme

There are times when I really do miss winters in the Northeast.  And then I quickly remember how it snowed in April the last year I lived in Philadelphia and how much fun it was digging my car out of my parking space on Easter weekend and I resume my love for living in the South!  I prefer to get my snow fix trolling Sotheby’s and Pinterest for ridiculously fabulous mountain houses and weekend escapes, always finding myself coming back to Aerin Lauder’s luxuriously simple ski chalet in Aspen.  It’s been all over Pinterest and the blog world since it was originally featured in Vogue years ago, and it’s just too dreamy not to share again – a black and cream color palette, reclaimed wood ceilings and all that natural light are a simple, elegant backdrop to that STUNNING view.  Lots of texture, courtesy of simple sisal rugs, wood furnishings, bamboo Roman blinds and lots of fur throws and pillows keep it warm and inviting.  It’s the perfect combination of elegance and comfort….

Here are my picks for getting a similar look at home:

Hennie Chair / Taraval Sofa / Horn cup / Faux snow leopard throw / Neils chair

Paper mache animal sculpture / Agate coasters / Bowl / Lamp / Seagrass rug

Great post – would love a source for the large snow/ski print over the bed !
