farmhouse fresh

I’ve always loved farmhouse tables – weathered, distressed wood with years of wear and tear add such a rustic, lovely touch to a kitchen or dining room and I’m thrilled to have scored a bunch of thick, wide, pine planks from a nearby barn to MAKE MY OWN!!! It’s going to be the perfect touch for our breakfast area and our new hutch…I start next week and I’ll post lots of pictures, but in the meantime, here are some fabulous inspirational images that first got me pining (no pun intended!) for a farm table in the first place:

Make your own??? I am so impressed! Getting the wood with the patina is half the battle though!
    Good luck.

I know!!! I haven't been able to find a table I really like, so why not try to make my own 🙂 Hope you're having a great weekend 🙂

That's so great that you were able to find some barn wood to make your own table. My husband made our table about 20 years ago…it remains our dining room table today and we still love it! Sometimes I wish it sat 10 instead of 8…but actually we prefer more intimate dinner parties anyway. I can't wait to see your work in progress photos and your finished product!

Thanks, Annie! Your husband did a great job on your table-it makes the room so cozy and the color is so complimenting to your walls! I'd love a 10-foot for our dining room…maybe after this first one, I can handle making another 🙂

I'd love to track down the grey/blue paint color in the second image if I could – any suggestions on where to start since it's not linked?

Carly – it's the breakfast nook of interior designer Darryl Carter's house. His website is http://www.darrylcarter.com. Good luck!
