diy: cupcake flags

The simplest DIY’s always end up being the best and these simple cardstock flags are one of my favorite ways to spice up homemade cupcakes!  I’ve used them for baby showers (here and here), birthday parties, and even as a birthday gift for friends (here). These took me less than five minutes to make, but they make quite a dramatic impact – as pretty as these glittery flags are, the best part was definitely the tasty orange creamsicle cupcakes themselves!

To start, I used a sheet of gold glitter cardstock, bamboo skewers from the grocery store, a glue gun and a pair of scissors:

I cut strips about 3/4 inch wide by 1 1/2 inches long:

Using my glue gun, I applied a little bit of glue to the one end of each strip:

Next, I wrapped the glued end of the strip around the top of the bamboo skewer and pressed for 5-8 seconds so the glue will adhere:

Next, I snipped the edges in the shape of a triangle, from the outer corners in:

What is your favorite way to dress up cupcakes?

Happy Hump Day!
