chic (cheap) lighting

When it comes to lighting, it has been my experience that very rarely does “chic” go synonomously with “cheap”-and that is especially true for the French, antique wood and iron chandeliers that are popping up in every decor magazine these days.  You can easily spend thousands of dollars for a true French or Swedish antique, like this one from Lucca (price tag: $7500):

This one’s a little less ($5800), but still way out of the realm of possibility for most:

Finding a reproduction of one of these beauties can be difficult….many look exactly like they were mass-produced and lack the character and quirks of an antique.  Then, last week, I took a client into a local lighting store and discovered Quorum lighting’s jaw-dropping Salento line.  This 6-light, 30-inch chandelier was staring back at me.  I had to ask the sales lady if she made a mistake with the $243 price tag!!!

For $100 more, you can score this 9-light version:

These sconces are beautiful (and around $160 a pop):

This lantern is huge (almost 30 inches) and would make a dramatic impact in a dining room, breakfast nook or even a large entry:

Click here for more options from the Salento line, or ask your local lighting retailer if they carry the line (mine had lower prices in-store than I could find online).
