ALL THE SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE VIBES FOR SPRING + SUMMER

Anytime I’m feeling low on inspiration (or I need to attack a mountain of clean laundry to be folded), I’ll pop in the movie, Something’s Gotta Give. Twenty-three years after the movie’s premier and the Hamptons home of screenwriter Erica Berry is still as close to perfection as it gets – a true testament to why classic design elements and traditional furnishings (and white kitchen cabinetry!) won’t ever go out of style.

When we built this house, I incorporated a lot of elements from the movie, like crisp, white-painted cabinetry and built-ins, espresso stained floors, a pale blue/gray color palette throughout, lots of ironstone, silver pieces, natural materials like wicker, rattan and bamboo blinds, oil rubbed bronze and polished nickel finishes. Sixteen years later and I am still in love with these choices and how they create an effortless flow and a casual, but elegant feel to our home. Trying to get back in the habit of blogging, so here are a few snaps of my home from over recent years that, I feel, help to create the same easy, breezy, sophisticated feel as in the movie:

Have a wonderful weekend!
