A BLUE AND WHITE TABLE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

I’ve never been one to go all out for Valentine’s Day, but now that I have children, every holiday is an excuse to celebrate! While we currently have paper heart chains and construction paper heart cutouts hung and taped on every surface to satisfy the littles, I have my sights set on a sweet but not overly girly tablesetting for the big day! Instead of going with pink and red, I’m opting for a classic blue and white table with just a pop of coral pink for a soft and feminine twist on the traditional color palette.

It’s been slim pickings in the floral section of the grocery stores lately, not to mention the fact that right about this time each year, flower prices double, so I went with white hydrangeas and a bouquet of coral pink spray roses from Trader Joe’s for $15. I love how they pop against the antique blue and white ginger jar (which adds the perfect amount of pattern and interest, too!)

The flowers were actually the only thing I bought for this tablescape; everything else, I already had on hand. I always rely on neutral every day pieces (white dinnerware, chic French wine glasses, bamboo flatware), and then very easily transform a table from every day basic to something truly special with a few accessories as the seasons change and holidays come and go.

The water hyacinth placemats are an every day favorite around here; the bamboo flatware was a gift a few years back from an Australian company (very similar set here); the white dinnerware is from Crate and Barrel; the chambray napkins are from here; the striped table cloth is from H + M a few years back (similar here and here); similar blue and white ginger jar here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Where did the pillows on your sofa come from?

Hi, Sidney! They were custom made years ago! The fabric is called Nehru in Indigo by Robert Allen!
